Event information

Registrations for this event are closed.

Multi-night pack walk to Koolpin Gorge in Kakadu National Park. This is a members only bushwalk. This walk is graded moderate to difficult and not suitable for beginners or children. There are cliffs that need traversing and pack floats involving swimming down the gorge for an extended period. Walkers need to be physically fit and acclimatised to the heat of the Top End.

The plan is to leave Darwin around lunchtime on Thursday 20th August and camp at the Koolpin Gorge campground on Thursday night ($6 per person park fees). We will start the walk on Friday morning and finish on Sunday. We will drive back to Darwin late on Sunday 23rd August.

The permit has been approved but is dependent on park conditions at the time as the road may not be repaired and reopened in time. It is anticipated to be open by late July.

Members willing to use their own 4WD to get us there will be prioritised. We will need up to 4 people, including backpacks, per vehicle.

Once you have been accepted on to the walk we will ask you to pay a $50 deposit to go towards fuel costs and camp fees. Fuel costs will be worked out as per the club fuel policy which is available on the website. The deposit is non-refundable if you pull out of the walk, unless your spot is easily filled from a waitlist.
